What we do
Global Lanka Volunteers presents students and graduates, or anyone with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of psychology, teaching, wildlife conservation etc., in Sri Lanka, while actively contributing to positive change. Our primary focus centers on mental health, and we are devoted to fortifying the existing resources within the communities we serve, striving for a lasting impact. Our mission is to empower skilled volunteers to create a meaningful difference through a culturally immersive experience, engaging in work at psychiatric facilities, participating in social initiatives for individuals with disabilities, and contributing to English teaching initiatives.
Empowering Volunteer Engagement
Our volunteers undergo comprehensive training and induction, bringing their unique experiences, skill sets, and knowledge to facilitate psychology-focused sessions at our partner projects. They have the privilege of collaborating with a diverse group of individuals, ranging from students learning English to those residing in institutional care within local communities. Additionally, volunteers actively participate in discussions with clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and workshops that encompass various therapeutic methods such as yoga, music, dance movement therapy, and more.
Join Us as a Volunteer
We are actively seeking passionate and motivated individuals with an interest in and understanding of psychology, healthcare, teaching, wildlife conservation, sports, counselling, etc. to become valued members of our volunteering team. We acknowledge the importance of pertinent professional expertise, and our placements are carefully crafted with this consideration at the forefront.
Our Core Beliefs
We firmly believe in the transformative power of unity, embracing diversity, and a collective commitment to well-being.
Through the exchange of knowledge, awareness, and skills, we aspire to reshape the global perspective on and approach to mental health, fostering a ripple effect of positive change.
We hold our partnerships with Sri Lankan communities in high regard.
Our emphasis is not solely on what we bring but on actively listening to and collaborating with local voices.
We strive to operate in areas where the community genuinely identifies a need for our presence, ensuring that our actions stem from authentic cooperation.
Our primary focus is on effecting long-term, meaningful change.
Our Vision
We foresee a world in which mental health and education professionals highly esteem global perspectives, recognizing the distinctive opportunities they provide for professional growth. By actively engaging and collaborating with diverse communities and local mental health leaders, our volunteers gain profound insights into the customs, traditions, and beliefs that shape Sri Lankan culture. This comprehension of diverse cultures serves not only as a learning opportunity but also as a channel for reciprocal professional development, benefiting the practices of all parties involved.
